Unofficial results show PPP leading the GB race with victory on 10 seats

  GILGIT: Unofficial and preliminary results of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections indicate that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has emerged as the leading political force, securing victory in 10 of the 24 directly contested constituencies. According to the preliminary results, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) follows with six seats, while independent candidates have won seven constituencies, including two candidates backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) managed to secure one seat. Polling for the 24 general seats concluded peacefully on Sunday evening under strict security arrangements across the region.   GILGIT, June 2: The Election Commission on Tuesday released the final list of candidates for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly General Elections 2026, confirming that a total of 403 candidates will contest elections across the region’s 24 constituencies. According to the official data, 272 candidates are contesting as independents, while 131 candidates are representing various political parties. The figures reflect a strong presence of independent candidates in the electoral race, alongside participation from major national and regional political parties. Among the political parties, the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) has fielded the highest number of candidates with 23 contestants, followed closely by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 22 candidates.   According to unverified results, PTI is in the top with 63 seats, followed by PML-N with 59 and independent candidates with 52 seats. According to the unofficial and unverified results of the cantonment board elections, the PTI has emerged as the biggest winner throughout the country while the PML-N came close and independent secured 52 seats which was really unexpected.  The PTI succeeded to safe 63 seats while the PML-N won 59 seats from across the country.  Contenders who won the elections as independent candidates secured 52 seats in total.  Among other Opposition parties, the PPP won 17, the Jamaat-e-Islami seven and the Awami National Party two.   Sultan Fateh Ali Tipu also known as Tipu Sultan. He was born on 20 November 1750, Devanhalli India. He was son of Hyder Ali and Fatima Fakhr-un-Nisa . His father was a Sultan of Mysore.   Bahadur Shah Zafar was born on 24 October 1775 in Delhi. He was the twentieth and last Mughal Emperor of Indian Subcontinent. He was a poet, musician and also a Calligrapher. He was the second son of Akbar Shah II. He succeeded the throne upon the death of his father on 28 September 1837. He was not the preferred choice of his father as his successor. For many of his reign he was a client of the British and was lacking real authority. The countless Mughal Empire had vanished much of its power and territory by the end of the 1700s. When Zafar succeeded to the throne in 1837, his rule stretched only to Delhi and its surroundings. For his subjects, he always stayed as “The King”. Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Friday informed that the country  could be   hit by a fourth Covid-19 wave in July if  the quality  operating procedures (SOPs)  weren't   followed to. In a tweet, Mr. Umar, who also heads the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), said: “Appraised  the synthetic   intelligence based disease modeling analysis today in NCOC. If the people  don't   follow strong SOP implementation and continuous strong vaccination program, the 4th wave of the disease  could also be   emerge in Pakistan in July.
