Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election 2021

 


     The election commission of Azad Kashmir on Thursday announced the date of the 11th General             Elections of the region which will be held on July 25. The AJK Assembly's positions will be                    terminate on July 29.

    The Elections will be held in 33 constituencies of Azad Kashmir and 12 constituencies of        Muhajireen Jammu and Kashmir.

    According to the Election Commission of AJK, 2.82 million electors will use their right to poll     in Azad Kashmir, of which 1.59 million are male voters, while 1.297 million are female            voters.

    A notification was issued by commission’s secretary Sardar Mohammad Ghazanfar here on     Friday.

Prominent among the registered parties were the regional chapters of PML-N, PPP and PTI, which had been symbols of Bat, Tiger and Arrow respectively.

Among the well-known AJK based parties, All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (MC), Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party (JKPP) and Jamaat-i-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir (JIAJK) had been assigned their preferred symbols of horse, sword and scale respectively.

There are at least 25 political and religious parties which apparently have little or no following in the AJK territory.

Mr Ghazanfar confirmed that the contestants claiming to be the candidates of any of these parties would be allotted symbols only after they bring the copy of the party ticket in their favor.

Autonomous candidates would be assigned other symbols but not the ones having similarity with those allotted to the parties, mainly the symbol of ‘lion’ and ‘pen’, he said.

The election commission has also allotted symbol to Tehreek-i-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) despite the fact that the AJK Home Department had retained it on the list of banned organizations under First Schedule of AJK Anti-Terrorism Act, 2014.

Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Friday informed that the country  could be   hit by a fourth Covid-19 wave in July if  the quality  operating procedures (SOPs)  weren't   followed to.
